Reaching 1,500 school-aged children on the dangers of tobacco consumption with three weeks of research-led teaching!
Today, I wrapped up three-weeks of teaching on the Irchester Field School Initiative, based at the Chester House Estate.
As part of the Tobacco, Health and History Project's outreach goals, myself and the rest of the team used interesting results from our research to engage children about archaeology, osteology, and the risks of tobacco consumption.
We managed to reach 1,500 school- and home-educated children, and collected a tonne of questionnaire data to evaluate what kind of impact this type of research-led teaching has on children's learning.
Together with a range of other specialists and teachers on the Irchester Field School, we struggled through three weeks of the hottest summer in years and came out making it into the news!
